magic

magic

A Poem by payalspeaks

i watched the way he worked
like magic falling off his hands

i witnessed his smirk and the way he danced
i simply enjoyed the way he was
inside out

i was falling nearly to the ground
when i watched the way he was toward all women
i simply was a victim

he was dangerous
a beautiful chaotic warning

but it was too late

i was following each step
each breath
each word spoken
his actions

i was caught up in his magic

I'm fond of poems that have an erotic nature to them. The players on all sides. We fall to their charms, and the scorching fires of their passions that seem to burn yet hurt so good. But... Their fires tend to burn bright, and fade the fastest. Morning comes, and they're gone. I like the way you decided to go with magic, because it's an illusionists trick isn't it? Captivating us with disappearances and reappearances and we simply want more of the show. I wish you had gone more of that root with your usage of language in the poem. As it stands, as you say it in your note; it's a simple poetic story. Highlight the simple. A little basic, a little cliched. You've got the tone, the visual, the feel, all the important parts of the poem down. I'm just not fully captivated, you know? This is a magician's show after all. Show me the hunger, show me the lust, and the dancing deceits for which we fall into a blissful state of hypnosis.

What a profoundly moving and dark magic it seems to be. There are those souls who burn so hot, and yet, we can't quite pull our hands away from their fire. xo
