Peace Within

People always seem to think to be single is to be unwanted

To be single is synonymous with terrible loneliness

But being single is better than being taken for granted

Who really wants to put up with such phoniness

I’ll admit it’s hard at first because you lose yourself

You forget the person you were before you were together

It’s a painful process to finally let them go, bidding them farewell

Somehow you feel like a fragile bird that’s lost all its feathers

But as time passes and sleepless nights are over

You wake up and appreciate the morning sun and the blue sky

Thoughts of him no longer seep into your mind, you’re bolder

And you cease to endlessly ask yourself, why oh why

Closure and relationships never seem to go hand in hand

That’s why losing someone and letting go is so painful

Somehow you have to forgive them in your mind

So that you cease to be so incessantly hateful

Taking the time to pick yourself up is how we find the peace within

It’s down to you to heal the wounds that others left on your heart

It’s only when we’ve been left broken, do we find who we really are

So being single really is now my chance for a new fresh start
