A Poem by Arjeta
"

A tale of two friends who overcame the challenge of living far apart.

"

Stop. The world is spinning to fast: halt.

Why won't it listen to me?

When you hear from your best friend's mouth the words "I'm moving", things speed up.

The seconds.

The minutes.

The hours.

The days.

The weeks fly by.

We tried to make it all count.

Every joke, comment, and sentence meant more.

They were priceless.

The last day of school: golden

Two months left.

Is that all I have?

It can't be.

It mustn't be.

It shouldn't be.

We swam at the pool,

making up synchronized routines

We ate together, laughed together, cried together.

Two months dissolved into two days.

Last day: the trucks are on their way,

and so are we.

I go north

she goes south

I go west

she goes east.

The final goodbye

our lives will change

Our friendship?

maybe

only time will tell

We broke the promise we never meant to keep:

we vowed we wouldn't cry

the tears flowed like water cascading gently from a bubbling spring.

the fears of the future fueled our pain

When your best friend moves, the time slows down

The seconds.

The minutes.

The hours.

The days.

The weeks drag by.

We called every day,

with no exceptions or delays.

I flew to see my friend

she had changed

so had I

but the change was positive

We stilled called every day

it was lonely if we didn't

we still hung on, we still cared

just like the old days

She visited

it was just like old times

we joked and laughed and cried.

And when we said goodbye

it was a little easier to let go

She visited again,

it was once again different

but not bad.

Good?

maybe

Strengthening?

yes

we had learned to cling on

it was almost another year past

i went to see her at her home

there was another change in her

more drastic than before

I found out dramatically

in an epic scene in her room

and the tears, they poured

and the scars were scoured

but we held on and

she's still here

with me

today

A year has passed,

give or take a month

and we talk each day

and we talk alot

On thing we've learned

be it what we want or not

is when to let go and when to hold on

This is a really sad poem! I love the fact you use the lines about the time and weeks and months and how they go by, this helps reiterate the fact that you miss them the time you spend isn't/wasn't enough and the time away is hard and long. I went through something relatively simular when my best friend and I went off to college. Nice flow and keep up the good work!
