Things I'm Glad I Had

Things I'm Glad I Had

A Poem by Tracey Newson

There are things I'm glad I had, like fishing with my dad,
My Mom taking pictures, me and my Sister hanging out together
My Grandmother making dinner, Me and my  Brother, my twin
How close we used to be.
Cutting wood in the November air____
Building forts in the back acre
Lighting the wood stove, listening to stories
While we were Cooking beans, on the iron stove.
Running with the Dog, through the trees
Building castles of love, feeling free
Going camping,  in the mountains,
I remember it well, that smell
Seeing that sunrise, over the mountains
counting  colors in the rainbows
when the sun came out..after the rain, not a worry, not a care
It was so good then...things I'm glad I had, things I wish I had again.
Now we are older,
We have all moved on, Children of our own
But I miss my Brother,  My sister,  my Mother
And I miss my Dad...And how I wish, we were close again
Building those forts, baking those beans
Seeing mountains, chasing dreams
I miss it all, right now.

Your work is well written, the fond memories of adolescence... A declamatory poem.... well done.

Brings a lot of images into ones' mind. Very nostalgic and well written.

very nice and nostalgic. i'd do away with a few commas that seem unnecessary, but that's my only criticism.
