broken clock

broken clock

A Poem by Peter H
"

nothing much .

"

Broken on the wall of this store

“Sale broken clock “

-Laughs- who would buy a broken clock?

Nothing works, I can’t tell time so what use am I?

I wish someone would buy me, fix me, and take care of my faults

Why  is  this child staring at me, I wonder if he realizes I don’t work

“What good is a clock that doesn't tell time” he asks

“No good", his father replies.

I wish I can start moving again, and then someone might buy me

But that’s just wish full thinking. I spend my days on this wall

Not knowing neither night nor day in a endless impasse

but  i still hope that one day time moves for me again.

I like this, the tone. The metaphor of the broken clock as it pertains to the broken "you". I especially liked the way the poet asked the question why can't someone come and fix him, and most casual readers would smile at that; but there is a real and simple truth here: a good meticulous and compassionate person can fix another, if you find such a person, consider yourself lucky. Excellent write ph20.

i really want to be one of the lucky ones thank you diego paz :) for the kind and insightful review
Sometimes we feel stuck in time, not a whisper of a breeze. We are still useful and beautiful when this happens. Sometimes a little tap or turn of the screw will get things ticking again.

Always do move forward! Even tiny steps get you somewhere.

Lots of thought behind this, the kind of poetry I like, you use an image to make a strong emotional and poetic point - great job.

thank you very much for the review your words inspire me to keep writing :)
There are many clocks I would buy--even if they didn't work. Some are simply too beautiful to leave behind.
You almost made me feel sorry for an inanimate object, ph--an object more "inanimate" than most.
Unfortunately, time moves on, whether we mark it or not.
Very fine poem, Mr. 20!

thank you mr. frank james your review is most appreciated
sixth line, did you want that second "is"?

we are like clocks sometime...time ticks along but we don't tick along with it, because we are broken hearted, discouraged....lacking that second hand to keep moving forward...we need to be repaired...someone to come along and encourage us, get us ticking again..
