A LOOK AT ETERNITY

A LOOK AT ETERNITY

A Poem by Peter Rogerson
"

In the form of a series of connected haiku verses, a look beyond existence into the darkness....

"

We are almost there,

We people at time's curving,

Watching for our gods.

The universe bends

Like a kangaroo on dope,

Flexes, grows weird....

And the minds of men

Warp in the crystal heavens,

Craving some knowledge.

I am your carriage

Whisper the suns of the stars

With Pandora's breath.

And the children cry,

Their tears become dust and wind

Blowing through vacuums.

New suns breathe new life,

New epochs rise in the void,

I see with blind eyes.

It will end, of course,

With the whimper the poet said,

Instead of a bang.

In that case, I suppose we can blame evolution for the warlike genetic flaw in mankind. :))

Only kidding! Personally I like to think it's a combination of guiding hand and biological imperative.

I sort of think there is; it all works rather too well to be just evolutionary co-incidence.

If it was evolutionary rather than created then it would all work well, don't you think?
We have been almost there fora very long time; and that, I believe, is where we will remain.

We think ourselves so important, almost immortal perhaps in our arrogance; and yet we are no more than a blink of the creator's eye.
