Making Amends

Making Amends

A Poem by pheasant

Here lies the truth
As seen by one
His inner sleuth
Had jumped the gun

He opened fire
On precious life
Made her a liar
As if by knife

The dealings dealt
Swung like a fight
The feelings felt
Strung out the night

But now he see's
The scar and pain
Now says he please
There was no gain

He scrambled quick
To make things right
Threw down his stick
Resolved to write

He spoke of healing
Opened the door
Which found him kneeling
Low to the floor

The words were wrong
Or were they right
He sent a song
For her new plight

He turned the page
And pulled it out
He learned a sage
Can full deal doubt

With open arms
He let it loose
The note with charms
Which mentioned Zeus

The higher force
He trusted here
Would steer the course
And bring back cheer

Yes, they do. Many times we jump the gun. A beautiful poetic apology ..

"But now he see's
The scar and pain
Now says he please
There was no gain"

A verse of truth.

I agree, making amends is critical in maintaining and nurturing relationships. Well written and wonderfully rhymed.
