The Arms of God

The Arms of God

A Story by Phoenix
"

Dying, but going to heaven this time.

"

It's midnight and the sky is clouded.
I’m lying in the snow in the middle of a clearing in the forest.
I’m unable to move or to do anything,
I only can lie down there,
as if I'm paralyzed.

I see the snow falling down as the moon becomes visible,
and its rays make the snow glow dimly.
And I can feel something warm and thick coming from my back.
I slowly turn my head to the side,
and I see blood in the snow,
forming two butterfly wings.

Then I realize that this blood,
is my own,

Crimson and warm.

I face the sky again,
and I see something else falling along with the snow.

They're pure white feathers.
Silky white feathers falling down with the flakes.
that are starting to lull me,
making me desire to sleep,
and making my vision blur.

I look to my right side,
and I see a cloaked figure in the distance that is walking towards me.

And when he is right beside me
the hooded figure kneels before me and with his right hand cradles my cheek.
I catch a glimpse of dismay,
yet tender smile coming from his lips.

But when I almost can see the figure's face,
my eyes close,
and I fall into a peaceful,
quiet slumber.
