Flowing Memories

Flowing Memories

A Poem by phoenix on the rise
"

the river of time

"

I see the river that passes me by

Carrying my memories along with it

Of tall friends, skinny friends, and friends of new and old

Time.

It's the only name that it goes by.

Not everybody notices it,

but everybody feels it.

Memories slip and float down its gentle stream

Along with my heart and the pieces that are gone.

Time.

Not everybody enjoys it,

but everybody wants more of it.

Years pass by and flow down the stream

Taking with them the experiences that i have been through

and the people whom i have met.

Time.

Nobody wants to feel it,

But everybody has to deal with it.

Lovers and one night stands all swim away,

Leaving only that which we want,

and sometimes all that we need.

Time.

You are all that i have,

and, for now, all that i need.

I thought It was lovely.. A life reality piece you might say.. A wish on everyones mind, at one time or other. I really enjoyed this piece.. Awesome!

Time.. if only we could capture it.. or find that moment in time where we were perfectly blissful.. but it is truly how we use time that we can look back and feel full.... it is a frame of mind and being.. I believe in afterlife so I think I have lots of time! (I do believe in god as well but I believe that people with either unfinished business or who have special gifts come back with a purpose) .. I don't want to throw my beliefs on you but I truly have a different take on life... I do still cry at loss and have a very hard time with death and separation. Your work seems to get me thinking alot though... what if I don't have alot of time??? Best use it very wisely! Thank you!

Great work. Love how the rhymes and structure flows just like the main metaphors (river / time).

The ending is strong and I really liked it:

"Time.
You are all that i have,
and, for now, all that i need."

Nothing stays the same over time... that is the cruelty of life.
Thanks for sharing this piece.

Oh, this would make a great song! References of platonic love (romantic works too ^^) work wonders with poems of content like this. Time is a complicated thing and, of course, there are a precious few who understand that it's not best to underestimate it: it is the Creator and the beholder of Death... huh... that's a keeper. ;)

The final two verses are gold, and the metaphor the river being Time is all too perfect for the reader to obtain an understanding of what you're trying to say.

Eternally Yours, Blade and Blood
