The Feaver

The Feaver

A Poem by Picture of Poetry
"

Christmas is here and everything is different. Including the people and their attitude toward others.

"

Winters cold breath,

       speeding all over me.

All of the trees,

       now bare.

Sweet smells from all around,

fluttering in the air, like the winter birds.

My sorrow,

       melting away.

Every emotion,

falling away into nowhere, like the snowflakes.

Songs,

       flooding every ear and brain.

The night,

glowing with exhilarant and magical colours.

Hearts,

overflowing with love and compation for others.

Old stories,

crawling from the abyss to be told.

These trees,

once being cut for their own doom and deadly distruction,

                     now being cut for decoration.

People,

once mortal enimies, now the best of friends.

This so calld "feaver",

       gets to all,

                     but never me.

Aw, I loved this! It's optomistic for a majority of it, telling of how Christmas can warm the hearts of everyone during the cold, winter seasons, but then twists at the end with the idea that you do not feel the warmth that everyone else seems to experience. Interesting! I have many favorite stanzas, including "Sweet smells from all around, / fluttering in the air, like the winter birds." Beautiful. Also, "The night, / glowing with exhilarant and magical colours." Gorgeous imagery. I always love looking at houses when they're decorated for Christmas. =) Great job with this!
