The Rain Dance

The Rain Dance

A Poem by pinksnowboots

It's a rainy day in Paris
fading into night.

She steps out of his car
after the best night of her life
into the rain.

He watches her through the windshield
skirt swishing in the breeze
floating through the droplets
that fly through the air.

She closes her umbrella
and tilts her face
to feel the rain's
gentle caress.

He sits and stares
car engine still running
entranced by an angel
dancing in the rain.

She laughs and spins
whirls and cries.
Ecstatic laughter
tears of joy.

His face is wet
tears run down his face
like the rain slides down the windshield.

She turns and looks.

He opens the door.

They dance together
laughing and crying
with the rain still falling
upon their heads.
