Everything But

Everything But

A Poem by Megan Harris

We live our lives in symbols
Her and I - look out for things we see
She gets sucked in, I'm forced to follow
Should I love her for being gullible...
For falling for anything
That she will stand for
We're both so fragile standing with arms touching
Arms, and skin in skin.
She smells so pretty and her eyes
Looking at me from the mirror change
Striking green full of pain
Blood shot, tear stained
I demand that she forgets
What we both regret
Oh, but she like I cannot forget a feeling
Despite it I reach for a brush
Comb out her dark hair
We both hate.
Then we cover the face
That we both want to tear off
Cover it with color
So no one will see
How dead we are.
