Only you know different

Only you know different

A Poem by Megan Harris

I can picture it as if it were yesterday
Passion pushing up against apartment walls
Feeling rogue tongues in cheeks
Foreign mouths becoming refugees
And you hid your whispers of love behind my teeth
And held down on a bed
I reached for your neck
Gently pressing my nails down your throat
Then back
Feeling breath and knowing
This friendship was limitless
But this was limited
Too much,
Too fast
I fell in love for the first
And last time that night
And when I kissed you goodbye
For the twelve time,
Walking out the door
I hoped against hope that
it wouldn't be the last time
Convinced myself I'd feel you again
Only to realize I was wrong
