Knocking on Death's Door (Thank you Jesus)

A poem about a life well lived dedicated to my daddy, Dean Laray Bingham RIP 10/26/14 I love you to the moon and back daddy.

(Thank you Jesus)

I am old

My life is done

I now look forward to meeting the Son

I can hardly breathe

Each step is pure pain

I am ready to go be with Him who reigns

I cry out to Him

To bring me home soon

I spend painful nights staring up at the moon

I have done what I came for

I have lived a good life

I raised my kids, I loved my wife

I have left a legacy

Of grace and love

I pray I will be remembered well when I am above

My family will miss me

I will miss them too

But this is a journey they know I must do

Someday they will join me

I know this for true

When time is done and judgment is due

I will wait at the gates

With love in my eyes

And carefully scan Heavens blue skies

I will run into arms

Warm and waiting for me

When the Lord calls us all home you will see

All those you love

Will gather together

And there we will be in Heaven for ever.

I normally don't read religious stuff, but you have a way with words that reigned me in. Great mastery of what it feels like to accept death's embrace through the arms of the Father in order to return home. Personally, I have no religion, but I know of which you speak. Great portrayal! I liked it A++!
