My Triumph

My Triumph

A Poem by PJ

Where Surrey sees a city view,
  By Worcester Park and Cheam,
Lies a gentle avenue,
  Not far from Barton Green.

Where the conifers are rising,
  To hide the gabled ends,
Driveways are accommodating,
  the new Mercedes Benz.

Mock Tudor timbers painted black
  Contrast with whitewashed walls,
Red brick in the chimney stack
  Metallic in the Rolls.

Through silver birch and privet hedge,
  The leaded windows see,
Rocks around the garden edge,
  Forecourted Ferrari.

The Surrey sun on Surrey lawn,
  With golden hand does bless,
On garden chairs,white and warm,
  On shining XJS.

From the heavy scented evening,
  To England's gardened shire,
To faceless brick and double glazing,
  And my old Spitfire.
