These Days

These Days

A Poem by p.kuhl

Headfirst into breath, I came

screaming with a fever

and raised fists of fingers

only matched by my brand new

wriggly toes. Doctor wrote

a prescription said son,

take these days one day at a time

'til you can't swallow 'em

anymore; that's when you'll return

to the nothing that came 'fore

you. Until then son,

take these days
