A Pantoum for Michigan

A Pantoum for Michigan

A Poem by p.kuhl

We set out to kill the Great Lakes

with cherry bombs and sugar beets,

but fell in love with salted sand

that burns the apple blossom's feet

with cherry bombs and sugar. Beets

sleep sound inside the robin's beak

that burns. The apple blossoms feet

for lighthouses to waltz into our dreams while we

sleep sound inside. The robin's beak,

like the ballroom where we met, sings

for lighthouses. To waltz into our dreams, while we

let music ease our peninsula souls.

Like the ballroom, where we met sings

(but fell in love!) with salted sand.

Let music ease our peninsula souls;

we set out to kill the Great Lakes.
