Bath

Bath

A Poem by p.kuhl

I prayed today.
The cold hug of my tub
filled with screaming, warm water,
so I pulled my knees
to my eyes as God
baptised me. I tried crying
but my tears were swallowed
by the drain.
I thought of Anne.
I thought of her small coughs
and her small loves.
I leaned forward
to see the water rushing
into the underworld
but I noticed my hands
under the tiny rain
coming from my cloud.
They looked old.
They seemed ready
to die.
I prayed today.
I was nude and drained and on all fours.
I spiraled into the tiny tornado
and with ease
I fell.
