the desert wonderland/an oasis of thaught

the desert wonderland/an oasis of thaught

A Poem by plainme

the night crept up slowly

like a lion

through the thick and high grass

of the african steppes

stars

in multiples
and variable shapes and forms

flickering in the dark winter night

cold air
crawling
through the fabric
of our clothes

yet we sat

unmoved

the silence of the night
surrounding our entities
like the eeriness
of abandoned buildings

a simple gust of wind

would shake us awake

the streams of water

once so vivid

frozen

in time

the essence

of all that makes us who we are

slowly growing from our toes

all the way to our feet

the masks

we drop to the floor

and as they touch the ground

they shatter

into a million shards

and

disappear

in the dark tapestry

but we looked up

at the glowing stars

and the white fully shaped moon

waiting

with glowing eyes

for an encore

i hoped

that your favourite songs would play

but had no idea

they were the same

you wished for mine

and I wished for yours

and to our surprise we heard

each others

only to realise

they were shared

a simple glance

and a look into the soul

so deep

covered in webs

of spiders that have left

like refugees

they ran away

from the warzone

but the barren desert

used to be

a jungle once

full of life

all it takes

is a change of seasons

but time

does not depend on that

it was you along

setting things into motion

building up your tent

and trusting

in this god forsaken land

you have set up camp

next to the oasis

which once sprung with life

now when I return

you’ll see that what once was

will come back

and bear you the most

beautiful

sweetest fruits
