MOBY DICK REVISITED

MOBY DICK REVISITED

A Poem by poetdoug
"

Moby Dick and the Ship of Life as it sails upon the high seas of conflict

"
This old life of strife is like a ship
We're sure to hit some gales;
Although you can't direct the wind
------You CAN adjust your sails.

High seas churn to come our way
As in Moby Dick's great  whale tale;
Although you can't governthe wind
----You CAN adjust your sails.

So hang on tight---as on you go
And for certain, you will not fail;
Keep your eyes upon the Captain
And to Heaven's Harbor you shall sail.

Makes me want to watch Gregory Peck chasing his old foe again Doug. Do you remember him waving to his men as he was trapped to old Moby? Chilling stuff for a boy to see...but great...
Your own locker (not davey jone's) is full of classic metaphors my friend - write on...

Thanks my friend. It is greatly appreciated.
Have trouble making the connection between this verse and Moby dick either the novel or the film. Where is the singular obsession that dooms the whole craft? Do the crew end in paradise? Hmm like the verse for all my reservations.

I really liked this one. It isn't just a tribute to the old story of the named Moby Dick but it is about life.
This line: Although you can't direct the wind
------You CAN adjust your sails.
Is so true for life when you feel out of control we can adjust our sails by being prepared for whatever may come our way. Thank you for the share and this lovely tale it was truly wonderful.

Thanks. It's good for me to remember that I must adjust my sails at every age.

Thumbs up on that.
Yes... in deed a great story... I remember reading not once but twice and the movie... In reality whales are not aggressive in nature... I have a chapter about them in book: De Novo... may be the reason why... may not... but they are the last of the big ones on earth... I hope that stays that way... I can't wait for them to bring back the "Wholly Mammoth"... I created a verse about... in a different theme... of course...
