Theres color in my laundry all because of you.

Theres color in my laundry all because of you.

A Poem by Ryan "rat" Travis
"

Something I wrote for my wife before we started getting serious.

"
At the time I met you
my laundry was black
like my life
shades of grey
but mostly
black

I could sit there watching my laundry tumble
and see nothing but black
occasionally a flash of color from my underwear
(which is another metaphor for my life at the time)
black
with occasional flashes of brilliance from out my a*s
little flashes of fleeting happiness
but otherwise
dismal

A long time ago
my life had color and happiness
I eagerly awaited Christmas as much as my children
but things grew dark after 9 years
and the black set in

The year I met you,
was the first year I had a tree for Christmas in a very long time.
I resisted
but the spark was there

This is the happiest Ive ever been
and
the color is back in my laundry

I can't describe how this made me feel. it was powerful in such a subtle way, and it made my heart pound a little harder and my eyes moisten just a tad. The imagery... it was just so overwhelmingly good. Especially the part about the Christmas tree; I adored that.

A wonderful, wonderful read. Thank you.
