The Poet I want to be

Well, this about says it all doesn't it.

I want to be a pompous poet

to walk around like my s***s' ice cream

cause I know it all

and I've done it all

and I think your work

SUCKS!

 

I want to be a poet who uses my ethnicity as a crutch

and have all of my poetry driven by that

 

I want to be a Marxist, Buddist or Gay poet

cause that would give me more to write about

and every poem could be about those subjects

defining me as a poet

 

I want to be a slam poet

and sound like

every

other

slam

poet

because then

I'd have a chance to win

and I want to be a winning poet

 

I want to be an achedemic poet

and have the achedemia

drool over my words

and give me grants

and awards

cause I kiss their a*s

and they in turn

kiss mine

while kissing each others

 

I want to be an alcoholic or junky poet

or former alcoholic or junky poet

or even go to jail for some heinous crime

cause that would legitimize myself as a poet

and once again

give me more to write about

and every poem

could feature those subjects

 

I want to be a respected poet

and have people

ooh and ahhh

over my every word

even though I'm really boring as hell

and they kiss my a*s

cause I kiss theirs back

 

 

 

I want to be the kind of poet

that everyone goes crazy for

because they hear I'm the feature

and they'd just die to hear my words

 

I want to be a self-indulgent poet

all of my poetry

talking about myself

only up here for myself

and I don't give a s**t about your poetry

 

I want to be a rhyming poet

cause only real poetry rhymes and has form and meter

 

I want to be a sensitive poet

and write about love

all the time

droning on and on

ex-press-ing

ev-er-y

syll-a-ble

 

I want women

to throw themselves at my feet

cause my words

just turn them to mush

and fill them with lust

 

but instead

 

I'm the kind of poet

who pisses people off

cause I say the things people don't want to hear

and I say the words that people don't want to hear

like N****R and C**T

cause I feel that by using them

I take away their power

 

and I don't care if I'm despised

and people think my work sucks

 

because what I write about

fires me up!

and I say

what I want to say

 

and I make you listen to it

 

cause when I piss you off

or make you feel in some way

 

I'm the best poet I can be

Wow, so many things to say but so little time. I think you accomplished everything you set out to accomplish in this piece....well except pissing people off part I think that mission failed. But this is a awsome piece and I'm glad you entered this is my contest
