I Barely Understand

A poem about a bad break up.

I look up at him

He looks down at me

I'm frightened when I look up

And see the face I see

I can't control the thoughts I'm thinking

I barely understand

When I turn to walk away

He stops and grabs my hand

I turn to look up at his face

He tells me his love for me was nothing but a waste

I can't stand to see his face

I want to scream and shout

He looks at me with gentle eyes

And tells me to get out

I walk up to the door

Look back at him

And say nothing more

I can't control the thoughts I'm thinking

I barely understand

As weeks go by 

I sit and cry

But then someone new takes my hand
