Never Ending Night

A Story by Poetic Beauty
"

This is a short love story about the meeting of two people who knew there was a strong connection

"
It started out like any other boring day. Get up, do the dishes.  The usual mundane daily chores.

"Memories stuff dreams were made of unless the those dreams kept haunting you every time I turned around. Causing heartache that made my chest that I couldn't to shake," she thought to herself.

Karyn walked away from the front porch to her car.  Hopefully, once the house was sold the constant memories and flashbacks would drift away not plaguing her everyday.  She didn't mind the beautiful scenes that played through her mind from time to time, but the daily reminders made her heartache to be close to the one she yearned for. The happiness that once made her feel extreme joy now left her empty, and this feeling was one she didn't want to have.  In this house stories, and dreams of the past haunted every room leaving no escape from the ache felt inside.

She turned the key to the car, and the engine roared to life.  She drove down the street that glistened from the drizzle that was relentlessly falling, making her mood damped even more.  She cranked up the music to an ear bleeding level trying to drowned out the past.  The thrashing heavy metal music that blasted threw the speakers had always let her mind drift in other directions keeping the memories at bay as she bobbed her head to the beat and sang along. Then the song changed on the cd.

"Damn, I should have taken this cd out.  I should have remembered what music I burned on this disk,"  she said out loud frustrated with herself and the memories that wouldn't stay away.

It was the all too familiar punk band that he had introduced her to.  A band that had quickly become one of her favorites, she dare not listen to it for it always brought back passionate memories of him.  The song hummed threw the car, and she couldn't bare to shut it off once the song had started.  For some reason the whole world today, reminded her of the lover she walked away from.

"How long do I have to go threw this?  Why does every inch of this world remind me of him?"  she asked herself in her mind knowing that she didn't have the answers.

Her thoughts drifted in the same path that always lead to him.  This time it was of the day they first met.  The day had been sunny and warm.  She had phoned him for the very first time the night before.

She had never met him, but had been given his number by a person they knew mutually.  The conversation had lasted hours .  It seemed they had a few things in common, and some differences that kept the conversation flowing.

When the conversation ended she had tucked her son into bed, and thought about the mystery man she had talked to on the phone.  She had no idea what he looked like, but that didn't matter for she was only looking for a friendship.  She wasn't looking for anyone to date.

On that sunny sumer day she walked few houses down, and hung out with a few of her friends playing a game of bags outside, and having a couple of drinks.  She decided to phone the mystery man to invite him over so she could meet him in person.  He agreed to come over giving only an hour before he would arrive.

She went home quickly to make herself a little more presentable before he showed up, but didn't put too much effort into her appearance.  She then headed back down to her friends to wait for his arrival.

When an unfamiliar truck pulled into her drive, she knew it must be him.  She walked slowly back to her house.  When he stepped out of the truck she was in awe.  Standing over six feet tall, dressed in black, with dark hair and sun glasses on he caught her off guard for he now had her full attention.  He was everything she was drawn to.  Now if only his personality would mesh with her.  She pretended not to notice just how sexy he was, and introduced herself to him without touching him.  They made quick conversation heading back down to her friends to play a couple more games, and drink a few beers.

As the day moved on her mom watched her son, so they could go for a walk alone.  They talked about a lot of thing, and still after all this time she remember some of what they talked about.  It amazes her that she still hears his words in her mind.

Finally, she becomes brave, and grabs his hand in hers.  In that moment she felt something different, but lets it pass for they had just met.  He looked at her with his amazing smile, and said "I wasn't sure how you felt, but now I  do."

The day turned into night, and the night into the wee hours of the morning while they sat outside under the stars talking.   When he finally kissed her, every nerve seemed to be on fire filling her with passion.  That was the moment she knew he would be different from any other person she had dated, but pushed the thought from her mind.

Then it seemed to end all too early for he had to go home.  It had been the beginning of something wonderful and wild, and they had many of endless nights after that.

Just a few typos from transposing it. I was looking for a little more development of "the mystery man." Very tender description of when they finally met. I like how she grabs his hand instead of jumping his bones...LOL! An actual developing of a love at the end. Nice.
