EACH TO A COMFORT.

What fruit, in fresh excite, is brightly shone

That such merry light is to sweet eye’s gleam

Is sweet taste lost and one’s appetite gone

Should strawberry be served without dear cream

Or cherry’s sweet bite have no pastry’s crust

While apple’s flame cheat the case of crumble

Lemon does mourn, if losing meringue’s lust

Banana splits if dear custard stumble

What is man, if in discomfort's distress

Without woman’s meet in sweet unify

What is taste, no sweetness without the bless

Of sugar's joy to give a pleasing eye

How dim a light if, without a struck share

The bright spark of love has no striking pair
