IN PORTRAIT OF LOVE.

I was not in fortune to her reality
That she stood to a grace in such exquisite air
Was I lost to such vitality’s shout
This darling dreamed affair
That I breathed her in and loved her out

And I clothed her in spirited shine
To a shimmer of satin, of dear Autumn’s sheen
To gown of russet’s gold in Fall’s twist
Which was once sweet green
Aged of love and a Summer once kissed

This pictured bliss was to canvas
In a drifting time of illumination’s exposure
And she, in a dear mind’s obey
Graced in spirit’s composure
And brilliance of scene was captured display

So was she to my idea’s station
To feature’s softest hand’s draw impressed
Haloed gold within frame’s invention
And is all highlight caressed
With caring to finer detail of loved attention

In this way was her nature drawn
To porcelain of rosy hues and adored shading
And I felt my heart in fast beat’s occur
Till around was light in fading
Then did I paint my understanding next to her
