UNHURRIED LOVE.

Of time...
Was I ever impatient for change
Those sweet jumping stones
Of colouring moves into new dimensions
Which brought such youthful ideals
And of life...
Those fleeting moments
Which flew in merry quick beats of passing
And were then happily forgotten

I lived in dear response to a darling quickly
To sleep in fast repose and up early
With expectant eyes, larger than the clock’s face
And looking forward to the next day
Before the day’s ending

And then I met you...
And my urge for speed, the distance seeking
Became a haze of holding
That I no longer encouraged an horizon’s draw
But pushed it back till a sun never dawned a rise
To see an unhurried sky, a darkening
Which brought a moon’s silken path to station
So that all time stops in a bathe of sweet shadows
That I might love you into an eternal night

Unhurried love, unhurried time...
Would I have it now in this happy love
That even a Daffodil’s growth, that happy April
Is a Spring too fast, a furious time
I would have my mind take a million years to think
So this memory of our love is ever-present

Since I met you I am all impatient that love lasts
Impatient for a slow unhurried love

Author Notes

Youth is all to the future and no memories growth; in this way is love a time of aging.
