Darklings.

A poem

Darklings.

 

The Darklings are a fairy folk

 that you don’t hear about a lot

You’ll see them if your nose you poke

 in secret places you should not.

 

The Darklings prefer privacy

 to live the way they’ve always done

  and so they shun publicity

 and hide away from everyone.

 

So one day if you chance to see

 a Darkling by the light of day

 avert your eyes pretend to be

 looking quite another way.

 

For Darklings can bring down a curse

 of spots and pimples on your face

 like acne only ten times worse.

No doctors potions can erase.

 

 So if you have a spotty face

perhaps a Darkling has seen you

searching in a forbidden place

 and placed the Darkling curse on you.

 

You must repent ,apologise

 and swear that you do not believe

in Darklings, you are much too wise

 and just perhaps they’ll grant relief.

 

The Darklings are a fairy folk

who do not want the world to know

 that they exist beneath the cloak

 of things you’re not supposed to know.
