Listening whilst I wait.

Listening whilst I wait.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

rhyming quatrains

"

Just listening whilst I wait.

Far away a voice is calling.

A voice which only I can hear.

Often when the night is falling

I can hear it faint but clear.

I think perhaps I am recalling

The voice of one no longer here.

A trap into which I’m falling

Headlong without the slightest fear.

Why should I fear to hear the voice

of my beloved calling me.

She had to go she had no choice.

I know somewhere she waits for me.

Maybe its only self pretence.

The foolish dreams of an old man.

I am sure I feel her presence.

I’m absolutely sure I can.

I will rejoin her presently

My life is drawing to its close.

I think that death will come for me.

When he is ready I suppose.

While I am waiting patiently
I listen nightly for her voice.
I know that she is calling me.

When my time comes I shall rejoice

.

I long to hear her voice again

and see the smile upon her face.

I don’t know where I don’t know when.

My yearning soul will find the place.
