Kismet

Kismet

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

Sonnet

"

Kismet?

You can’t escape your destiny

What fate decrees will come to be.

I don’t believe that this true

Although I know that others do.

I do believe that we can choose.

What we accept or we refuse.

The future is not set in stone.

The choice is yours and yours alone.

If you believe in destiny.

Who am I to disagree?

But I prefer to think I’m free

To choose what I want to be.

What you believe may well be true.

But I have doubts I really do.

I enjoy your sonnets. They have an interesting quality of a window into your thoughts, creative and also effective in letting you get your ideas out of the whirl of your head and onto the page. I enjoy the back-and-forth on this one between ideas of destiny and free choice. Hope to see more!
