The Slide Show of Us

The Slide Show of Us

A Poem by KatieJean

Like a slide show, memories of us run through my mind

Slow and fast, hoping that I'll see your smile soon

But while your gone the only thing I can do is keep the repeat button on

And I strain to remember the sound of your voice, the touch of you against me

I reread old letters and look at old pictures ,just to feel like your here with me

Though nothing compares to having your arms around me, whispering you love me

I'll do anything just to hear the sound of your voice once more

And until you return, I'm left falling with no one to catch me

But I'll fall watching that slide show of us, those memories barely keeping me afloat

I'll fall until you reach me and save me from never being able to get back up again.

This is the way it feels. Memory is like a slide show that we replay over and over.
