Love is Blind

Love is Blind

A Poem by erika

At first, you think his eyes are blue.

He’s an ordinary, average guy

Just his eyes are the color of the sky

You think he’s like any other boy.

But if you look closer, at certain times

His eyes are so light-

pale, like sunlight is filtering in from behind-

that you feel he can see right through you.

Other times, at just the right angle

You see flecks of green and gold

Jungle colors hidden inside.

Storm-cloud gray is swirled in

With the smoky blue

When he grins,

He has laugh lines crinkling up his eyes.

Expressions on his face,

A creased brow as he reads a book

The slightly bashful look with a secret smile he sends you

When you interrupt him from his reading

Of a 'non-cool' story;

All of this,

The colors of his eyes

(I see a new shade every day)

the way he can make me laugh,

smile, be happy

simply by existing

makes me fall more in love with him every day.

Author's Note

erika
i am not a fan of actually even having titles for poems, and i always have to think of one. i chose "love is blind" as sort of a pun, because obviously the author isn't blind, but i used it because its about love, and blind relates to eyes.
