La Not-So Science Des Reves

La Not-So Science Des Reves

A Poem by Clarisse Nanoit
"

Something that happened to me today. :)

"

The color of sleep is

something unattainable,

at least for now while

I lie here on my grandma's

couch, listening to the heartbeat

of the Grandfather clock that's been here

as long as I can remember.

Memories of a day gone perfect so far

keep my brain flooded, yet functioning,

if not clearly.

The front door is open,

the outside staying out only because of

a glass wall, but I can see the rays

of sunlight smiling at everything outside.

I'm tired, so I should be falling,

but all I can think is

How unnatural to sleep while I can see the sunlight!

How against God's hand to doze during the day...

Nannie turns the page of her word find book,

the only noise I've heard in a long time.

She's a respecter of anyone who's trying to find sleep.

She made Pawpaw go into the bedroom

citing his cackling laughter

and propensity to tell loud stories.

Doesn't matter anyhow.

I can't sleep.

This is all useless.

This is peaceful. I'd really adore sitting in your footsteps for a day. Living else where for a change. Georgia sounds nice, even if you have bad trashcan picker uppers and toothless neighbors who hurt puppies.

I called my grandpa Papaw. For some reason though, him and my grandma spelled it Pappaw. But I guess it would make more sense, since that is how we said it. [Pap*Paw or just papaw...]Eh, never made much of a difference. It got the same persons attention. =] Cuz I know no one else who calls their grandpa that...er...bad tense usage...gir.

well anyway.. =] i liked this. i went through other pieces just within the past couple of minutes, nothing seemed to float my boat. this did it though. =]

OMG! I read this, too! XD I don't know why I never review anything. o_o Laziness, I suppose...

Anyway! I reallly liked this. :]
Especially the wording of "the color of sleep" and the imagery. ^^

I like how something this good can come out of something that simple!

This is absolutely beautiful. Just simply beautiful, and I don't throw that kind of praise out there for nothing. There is a quality about this, in the way that it presents an ordinary day and intersperses it with little pieces of beautiful language, that makes me want to read it again and again.
