A Poem by poison&kerosene

My despondency is painted on my soul
Each stroke thickening acrylic dysphoria
Until the portrait is muddy and cracked

Oh wow that is quite the compliment! Thank you!
I love your metaphors. For me, your words paint a clear portrayal of your soul with all the nuances of a palette. Excellent writing.

Thank you kindly for reading my writing and your kind words :)
poets tend to paint what ends up cracking...never perfect portrait with smiles....it is harder to write happy, i believe.
really like "thickening acrylic dysphoria"--

It definitely is. Art seems to be birthed by pain. Thank you!
It’s a rare portrait…thin layers of muted acrylic painted on wood…each brush stroke building to a point, and then the façade begins to crack…or is it the wood beneath?

Writers have the unique ability to draw emotions from words…and by doing so provide a path for others to follow.

Not all paths lead through sunny meadows…many lead us through dark places of the soul. By letting those emotions bubble to the surface we can achieve some semblance of rationality and perhaps lend ourselves to
others who feel the same but cannot express those feelings.

Your portrait pk brings many thoughts to the surface, well done.
A good write.

This is the portrait of despair, like one of Van Gogh’s last paintings. I know the “portrait” because I’ve lived and written much about it. You captured exceptionally well an image we can see; the dark face of hopelessness, the heaviness of life on our face and shoulders. The cracks define us (if they don’t break us), and we become classic art (survivors) for others to admire. Good writing!
