Melancholy Eyes

Melancholy Eyes

A Poem by poison&kerosene

I never heard her voice

Nor even knew her name

But since I caught her stare

I've never been the same

As crazy as this will sound

Some may say it's wry

I fell in love with the girl

with the melancholy eyes

Her soul dripped with sadness

from her pupils to her lash

An indication of what may

have burned her heart to ash

Even though she smiled

I would simply pay no mind

What mainly caught my heart

were her sorrow riddled eyes

It was eloquent and twisted

It left my chest to ache

Within that vacant stare

was a girl beginning to break

I never longed to fix her

Or to bring her happier days

Because I've fallen so very hard

with that melancholy gaze
