Another Chance

Another Chance

A Poem by Jasmine Smith

Heart trembling, body shaking
Could it be a mistake in the making?
A desire for something that no one would desire arises
For what good could come out of this crisis?
To just release the pain, cut through the fear
Replace my blood with my tears
Why are you here? Where did you come from?
I thought me and you were done?
Leave me alone, get out of my life
Tired of going wrong, I want to do right
I let you slip in with a thought of doubt
How did you become me? I don't know how
With each single cut I become free
But that is a lie don't you see?
That is not you and you are not it
For in this problem that solution does not fit
But I need it, it needs me
But that is a lie don't you see?
I already gave up, I already gave in
I became once again a slave to my sin
Just because He doesn't approve doesn't make you a failure
It makes you in need of a savior
You have a savior that has set you free
He died on a cross for me
I am not my mistakes, I do not have to live that way
No matter what the world has to say
I am God's creation
Belong to a Holy nation
Time to get up and stand up strong
Forget the past just as Jesus forgets my wrongs
I am here for a reason I believe
So I stand with arms wide open ready to receive
Each day is a new day, another chance get it right
So just close your eyes and let Jesus be your guide and light
