True Experience

True Experience

A Poem by Jasmine Smith

Tear stained face, weakened body and soul

Hurt, Pain, Suffering, playing their role

Brokenhearted to the core, I can’t breathe

I come with my heart in my hand for you to receive

All that I had is gone away

All of my strength has passed today

I can’t carry anymore

My body grows weak as I crawl to your door

Tired of lies, tired of pain

I can travel no longer through this rain

I fall to my knees, face planted to the ground

Tears drain down my face barely making a sound

I can no longer endure this life alone

I can’t understand why the problems haven’t gone

I lift my head pouring out sorrow

Yearning for a better tomorrow

I lift up my eyes and see your face

I see you on the cross, I see your grace

Blood drips down your face, love and pain fills your eyes

My heart stops as I see you die

I wash your feet with my tears, and dry them with my hair

As you take away the burdens I bear

I feel your warm loving hands wipe my tears

I open my eyes to see you clear

Your love wraps around me, warming my soul

You pour into me, making me whole

With love in your eyes, you reach out your hand

I reach toward you with all I have left, unable to stand

You pull me up weakened and bruised

I can’t walk on my own, my balance I lose

You turn and look in my eyes with passion and care

You whisper “It’s ok I’ll carry you there”

You lift me up off the ground that I fell to

Caress me with a love that is so true

With each step you take my troubles cease

All the heartache begins to release

Nothing else matters now that I am with you

My savior, my God, my strength in this life I go through
