Body Language

Body Language

A Poem by P.S.

His eyes told me that he felt I was beautiful beyond compare

As they critiqued me head to toe

Admiring eyes

They lied

His touch said that he wanted me at his side

Always pulling me near

Purposeful touch

It lied

His kiss told me that I was the one

Sending jolts through every nerve in my body

Seductive kiss

It lied

His presence gave a sense of security

Never failing to make me feel desired

Deceiving presence

It lied

My mind led me to believe it was meant to be

Denial of what I really knew was true inside

Naïve mind

As I lied

To myself.

Author's Note

For the most part this poem is very literal without use of much imagery or creative metaphors; which is in tune with my style for the most part. Still, I might revise it later on and see if I can get really creative. Suggestions are welcomed.

The repetition in this poem creates a wonderful sense of emotion. He lied to you, and that cannot be reiterated enough. It also gives you those brilliant closing lines, again, accented in red. Lovely piece. Sometimes, we'd rather boost our egos with beautiful fantasies then face the harsh reality of being used.
