Solitude

Solitude

A Poem by Pete

In my loneliness ...
The breeze whispered sweet nothings.
Strong gusts of lies came in discord but could not win the argument
and so disappeared as quickly as they came.
Bugs buzzed nearby, in solidarity.
Blades of grass giggled like children as they played.
Wildflowers cheered.
Trees swayed and leaves twirled like delicate dancers.
Birds dropped by for a visit, bearing gifts of truth and hope.
Soft, swollen clouds lent me their sympathetic ears.
The pond promised me the future.
The hills guaranteed it.
The well-worn path rose up beneath me to provide bankable wisdom with its ancient, buried secrets.
There are no maybes, only tomorrows.
The sun beckoned me to take yet one more step into its sprightly warmth.
All of this happened in but a fleeting moment ...
... in solitude ...

Enjoyed the imagery and the emotion of the poem really conveyed an ideal image of the title.

"Blades of grass giggled like children as they played."

"The sun beckoned me to take yet one more step into its sprightly warmth."

Heartfelt lines, as was the whole poem. Tyfs, Pete.

...as well, to you, Pete!
Pete such true words are spoken here. when we slow down and take in the sights around us it can a pleasant surprise, the things we ordinarily miss. There are no maybes only tomorrows, this made me smile that is true my friend I am less willing to take the risks of my younger self. This was wonderful and reminded me of the cycles of life.
Thank you Pete very Nice.

Firstly that path leads to absolute calm... what a perfect picture for your poem.
Your words are lovely, peaceful, the kind of words a human being wants to wrap around his or her shoulders. 'Blades of grass giggled like children as they played ' YES! 'Soft swollen clouds ' - I saw some today but they slowly became floating white feathers.
' All of this happened in but a fleeting moment ...
... in solitude ... '
And yet you weren't alone., not really.. more untroubled than anything, perhaps.
