![]() Sanity SwingsA Poem by Pete![]() “In sane moments we regard only the facts, the case that is.” - Thoreau![]() ![]() All appears fine. For a short, fleeting time. Hard to tell who's who. In such a motley crew. Take a seat in the chair. Pray that all's fair. Wait for the dance. Twirl and prance. Piano keys clank. Drawing a blank. Band starts to play. You sashay, strut and sway. Hoping they don't take the punchbowl away. Conductor leads. Heart bleeds. Humanity pleads. Hot damn. I'm your man. Thinking I can. Check your coat at the door. Hope for more. Same stuff different day. For you and me. Twisted proclivity. So long lucidity. Depositing pieces of our souls at a crowded bank drive-through. Biting off more than we can chew. Running by the shore. Hoping for more. Counting grains of sand on life's island. Meanwhile ... ... no one's running the asylum ... ![]() ![]() © 2018 PeteAuthor's Note
