Blemishes

Blemishes

A Poem by Pete
"

He who hears the rippling of rivers in these degenerate days will not utterly despair. - Thoreau

"
Image result for ripples in a pond

Like a deer in headlights.
To manic, both up and down.
Living wondrously without a net.
Shedding the tears of a clown.
Near-sighted in Heaven.
Dumbfounded by Hell.
How can I be wrong whilst everyone else is right?
All I can do is fight the good fight.
I can preach the sermon but lack conviction and tact.
Performing a delicate, high-wire act.
'Tis not an illusion.
It's an unfortunate fact.

The thorns hurt but the greenery is smooth.
Resuscitating darkness and breathing light.
Praying faith and forgetting my knees.
Losing the marathon but winning the sprint.
Naked to humanity whilst clothed in obfuscation.
Is it real or just an illusion?
Am I seeing clearly or is it sheer and utter confusion?
Jumping off the ledge with a golden parachute.
The point has become moot.
This fault kills and only goodness replenishes.
A stark reminder that even a font has ...
... blemishes ...

Hey, Pete

Way to be proactive! I like how you added an image and video content to your written content!

Nobody's perfect. True, Pete. This is decent poetry content, though. I see you are authoring with a tad bit of depressive expressiveness, Pete. Yeah, some things in life really tick me off, too, but then, I think about them. I'm thinking about how much I preach effusive friend personality type jibberish to my mind, as I go through your content, Pete. You balance your content out, and that's cat's meow, now that I think about it.

This feels like more of a throwback to your earlier writing, when you did poems with a heavy dose of wordplay & phrase tickling. What you do best is juxtaposing contrasts like this: "Near-sighted in Heaven. Dumbfounded by Hell" (& many more snappy ones here). Your poem seems to suggest that we can never have things "all this way" or "all that way" . . . there are always exceptions & surprises, which the control freaks call "blemishes" . . . when in fact, these may be the spots of beauty, if we could just surrender to the unexpected (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
