See Fit

A Poem by Pete

I came into this world, not chiefly to make this a good place to live in, but to live in it, be it good or bad. - Thoreau

poppy field, 1890 by vincent van gogh

paint me
paint me a milky faux world
fill it with poppies and splurges
save your ivory faith dirges

forge me
forge me a quickened steel trellis
fasten it with diamonds and gems
cover it with eden's fallen stems

show me
show me that there's nothing new under the sun
make me see what others cannot
buy me that which can't be bought

quit trying to fix me
let my soul roam free
an ocean is not a sea
we hold our own key
just let me be

if you should see fit

I absolutely love this Pete. The essence of just wanting to live. I feel more and more each day that we seek so much from this reality that it rips our souls off their true path further and further the more one would seek. I feel the intensity within this poem, exhaustion almost, a need to just live and appreciate what life bestows as well as the wish for the miraculous...both are attainable but seldom a possibility for many.

"show me that there's nothing new under the sun
make me see what others cannot".............................................really excellent lines - this has been written by someone who has delved deep enough to find or know/feel that there comes a time to accept and not always search or if searching continues at least to see that heaven has to be found from within, a state of consciousness so to speak.

So many thoughts and feelings about this poem, truly enjoyed this piece :)

Value is very much an intrinsic thing
Part of being human - is to be who we are -
And for that value to be celebrated

i love the imagery
Very rich !!

I think Mr. Thoreau would have liked this one. Quit trying to fix me.....just let me be. Really liked the spirit of this offering, as well as the excellent imagery. The Van Gogh didn't hurt, either.
