'Cents Ability' (Modicum)

A Poem by Pete
"

Staying in the house breeds a sort of insanity always. Every house is, in this sense, a hospital. - Thoreau

Forty Years On Two Wheels: Like A New Penny

reason left the room
i wanted to follow it
but it wasn't going where i wanted to go
it didn't know what i know

it was too slow
missing an emotional glow

it wasn't kind
with its simple mind

so i went my own way of treasonous vanity
screaming laced profanity
forsaking expensive sanity

leaving a penny behind for luck

'cuz i didn't have a buck

Author's Note

Pete
"If one listens to the faintest but constant suggestions of his genius, which are certainly true, he sees not to what extremes, or even insanity, it may lead him; and yet that way, as he grows more resolute and faithful, his road lies." - Thoreau
