Walden Pond Concord, MA Fall Foliage

way back

when winter turned an insensate shoulder and blew its last gelid breath
when spring burgeoned forth and offered a cordial greeting
when summer danced a celebratory line dance
when autumn leaves parachuted discreetly back down to earth

from the heavens and beyond
with our simple minds and tangled hearts
amidst the foliage of time
we always had an impassioned song
in an earnest concert of royal majesty
steeped in eternal love

that was all that mattered

way back when
