Saccharine Dreams

Saccharine Dreams

Dreams are the touchstones of our character. - Thoreau

tossing and turning
at the esoteric hour of midnight
the new day reaches out
from behind a wall of sleep
its relentless fingers of figment searching for my heart
longing for my soul

life on trial in another dimension
accusing
shackling
convicting
pardoning
liberating

floating above the clouds
moist loins yearning
fantasy meandering in a festive line dance
a heuristic heart pumping possibilities

yesterday is a spent, black and white movie of memories
today is tertiary and tangible
tomorrow is tantalizingly sweetened and stirred
each day morphs into a subjugated version of the last
leaving behind its crumpled sheets
crusted eyes
torn seams
and

saccharine dreams

Those dreams become even more important at times when the chips are down and we are on a path to nowhere. Hang on to them tight, for they will keep you focused and will lead you to a better place. This is where your lines took me Pete. Hoping all is good with you. Take good care, keep safe and well.

"tossing and turning

This poem, all of it shoved the reader into your situation. I enjoyed the read as I do all things that are accurately explained and expressed, but to write something entertaining as well as educational is great because it gives the reader something to walk away with, especially a reader that's also a writer. tyfs

It's been a long time since I've had saccharine dreams & you've made it crystalline clear how night terrors can both titillate & torture. Despite this poem clearly being about the night-sleep jaunt of dreaming, I couldn't help but notice the dreamscape grows evermore wild & wicked as your poem goes along, & I was seeing today's current world being reflected in this willy-nilly ride across midnight. Dreaming has grown more jaggedy becuz a reflection of yesterday is swirled with a blind leap into tomorrow (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Like a great many personal goings on, instinctive or created, dreams are an Essential.. they can be, are often, the key to hidden reveries.. the lighter mist over the eyes, not the closed lids of night. But the everything does enter our nights, the past, the present and even presentiments that itch to come true. Your writing really does climb into space, Pete.. you find a thought and fly it til it gets to where you want it.. you have in this write..truly have.

Very nice format and content. Different from your other ones. Dreams hold many powers and meanings indeed. Some are gifted to unlock their secrets. I hope you are one of them . Excellent sir Pete...
