Faux Pas

Faux Pas

A Poem by Pete
"

The fault finder will find faults even in paradise and thereby miss the joys that recognition of the positives bring. - Thoreau

"
Thoreau Was Known For Walden Pond, But One Scholar Says He Was A 'Man Of The River' | Here & Now

i've tasted mortality
dined on self destruction
sucked faith through a straw
looked through stained glass with awe
waiting for an ice age to thaw

saving others when i couldn't save myself
finding missing pieces of my soul on the bottom shelf
putting one foot in front of the other without the will to move
testing desire with nothing to prove
singing to old, spinning vinyl with a worn groove

gorging on pride
convicted without being tried
thinking i told the truth

when i bold-faced lied

Author's Note

Pete
"I had often stood on the banks of the Concord, watching the lapse of the current, an emblem of all progress, following the same law with the system, with time, and all that is made and at last I resolved to launch myself on its bosom and float whither it would bear me." - Thoreau

We learn by our mistakes. Some make more than others, but then they learn more too. These are power confessional words. You looked through the stained glass with awe waiting for an ice age to thaw. That tells me you have had a long wait and needed much patience. Hopefully you are now in a place where you are at peace with yourself and thankful for each day. Great work Pete. Strength in your writing.

Gratitude is the ultimate state of receiving, to be grateful each day for the smallest things in our life, be strong, surrender and have faith, and those who always search for fault will never be happy. powerful words my friend.

From climbing the mountain to falling off it. Experiencing absolute beauty. Walking on water until your lungs suddenly fill up and the experience has completely changed. Our faults and mistakes help us grow. Then some catastrophic. I enjoyed this.
