in this flagrant foul of a city
i found the park down by the water in my teary lament
a sanctuary
an asylum
a sort of home away from despair
little did i know that i would meet so many others with hard-luck stories
taking their own inventories
walking their dogs and throwing them a bone
turns out
i'm far from alone

now i know what benches are for
i thank god that heaven has a hardwood floor

and an open door

Love this...Hardwood floors in heaven, no linoleum or shag rugs.
And the others who are there and share in misfortunes...blessed are the poor and the meek, they shall inherit.
Perhaps a picnic lunch to eat while sitting on one of those benches in heaven.

Nice rhyme in this...subtle...and great song by Alan Parson's project...
"I can read your mind"...

I love this poem of finding a place of solace amongst the hardships and dispair of life.

There is comfort in knowing you are not alone in things that overwhelm you and may even suffer from similar life events
