Inside And Out

in a primitive, pragmatic prison of man's making
backstage in a play of god's aching
i draw the curtains on a dark world
if only for a night's duration
my body aloof in a sort of isolated incarceration
clinging tightly to a rhythmic lifeline
singing and dancing
alone in my head

what a place it would be
if everyone sang and danced on the outside too
simple back and forth rocking
slithering like contented worms
through trials, troubles and faith's storms
wide-brimmed hats and smiles
stretching on for miles
stacked up to heaven in endless piles
less time for cloaked, devious destroying and hating
more time for creating, loving, and caring

especially with the right music blaring
