Fluvial (Take Me To The River)

Life in us is like the water in a river. - Thoreau

Assabet River - Wikiwand
Assabet River

born of innocence
capable of mayhem
a living, breathing shrine
yours and mine

gurgling truth
screaming reason
no matter the time or season
naked and innocent
blind but beneficent

baptizing me
chastising me
realizing me
linking me inextricably to the past
whether i stop at its edge to sit and think
or stoop way down low to bathe and drink

estuary of humanity's tears
keeper of eternity's years
soothsayer and almsgiver
in your wondrous meandering and presence i quiver
take me to the river
