. . . I was rich, if not in money, in sunny hours and summer days . . . - Thoreau

How Snapdragons Beckon Bees With More Than One Color - The New York Times

raising the bar on a seasonal limbo
replacing winter's long lost bimbo
organic and nuclear
rosebuds in my ear
no longer shy and cold
delicate and bold
yet another of creation's magnificent tales told

summer explodes in a rapturous, divine splendor
ban de soleil mixing margueritas in a hot, iced blender
snapdragons breathing fire whilst bees hover like spying drones
skipping rocks and school for a chance to skim stones
in search of less and more
folks from here, there and everywhere drawn to the shore

tickled ivories giddy with a semi-conscious mirth
beyond rich with no net worth
taking their place at a water's edge glistening
invited guests to summer's christening
only one style of music on the radio - easy listening
nowhere else better to go
raising the curtain on a sold out show
no expectations, no quid pro quo

top down
wearing an upside down frown
dressed more like an adjective than a noun
no time to debate or agree
we hop in the car and head over to see
like a commercial for the army, trying to be all that we can be
you
me
and cousin dupree
